We really need to start at the beginning of the Arcadia Creek story, at least this new era that began in 2014. So I thought maybe we could use one, or a few, “catch”- updates! All aboard!
To get where we are today, I had to start model railroading again from scratch. I was re-entering the hobby after more than ten years, changing scales, living in a different home, and getting acquainted with a lot of new technology. I had been keeping up from my armchair with subscriptions to hobby magazines including Model Railroader and the NMRA magazine, so I wasn’t completely unaware of the state of the hobby, but I had no experience with N Scale, DCC, newer types of sectional track, and many newer modeling techniques. With my decision to take up the hobby again, I needed to acquire some N Scale equipment and give it a try.
To keep the story short, I purchased some locomotives, rolling stock, track, and throttle on Ebay and eventually set up a card table with a circle of track to try running my new acquisitions. Later I bought a used NCE DCC system from a friend to begin experimenting with DCC. I also began researching ideas like building a layout on a door, and joining a modular club using T-TraK. By the end of 2015 I was setting up experimental track plans on my six foot folding table, and making up and running a variety of freight and passenger trains. So here’s where we started 2016 on the Arcadia Creek and Woodbury Railway.
